Login to My vessels

  • Published: 14/05/2019

Here you will find information on how to log into My vessels. You will also find a description of how to open a user account without using ID-porten, a common login solution for many Norwegian public services.

Login for Norwegian users

If you are a Norwegian national, or if you have been given a D number, you should log into My vessels by using ID-porten.

The advantage of logging in by ID-porten is that you will automatically get access to the vessels you own or for which you have an administrative role (these roles are specified in Altinn), provided that they are registered in one of the Norwegian Maritime Authority's vessel registers.

The following individuals will have the “Transport” role pre-assigned in Altinn and automatically have access to vessels:

  • Managing shipowner
  • General manager / Managing director
  • Partner with full/joint liability (national identity number)
  • Owner
  • Contact person NUF
  • Norwegian representative (of foreign entity)
  • Chairman of the board

Click “Login with ID-porten” to see this familiar dialogue box:

This is where you choose a login method.

Once you have identified yourself, you will be directed to My vessels.

The following dialogue box will appear the first time you log in:

Enter your name and e-mail address.

Next, you must confirm the information before you go to a web page similar to the following:

Vessels to which you have ownership or administrative privileges, will be shown.

Registration and log on for non-Norwegian users

If you do not have a Norwegian national identity number or have not been assigned a D number, you can still open a user account on My vessels.

Note: If you have opened this type of account, you will not automatically be assigned access to vessels you own.

Opening a new user account on My vessels

Click “Login or register by e-mail” (see image below).

You will now see this dialogue box:

Click “Register”.

You can choose between two types of accounts, Alteration Account or Reading Account.

Alteration Account

If you need an account with write privileges on My vessels, this is the type of account you should use.

Note that this is a personal account. When signing up for such an account, you MUST provide an e-mail address and a mobile phone number. The mobile phone number will be used for two-factor authentication.

Once you have signed up for the account, you will see the following dialogue box:

Next, you must verify the e-mail address.

After verifying the e-mail address, you may log in.

For each login you will be asked to enter a PIN code (two-factor authentication), which will be sent to the mobile phone number you registered for the account.

You will see this website the first time you log in.

As you can see, you do not have access to any vessels.

You must contact the owner or an administrator to get access to vessels.

Reading Account

If you need a user account with only read privileges for vessels, this is the type of account you should sign up for. This account may be used by several persons. Users may for example be a joint user for the bridge on a vessel.

The following must be registered if you choose a read account.

Once you have signed up for the account, you will see the following message:

You must verify the e-mail address by clicking “Verify your e-mail address”.
