The provision provides a reporting obligation for shipping companies that have diving activities.
Due to the risk conditions in the industry, there is a need for an overview of shipping companies, so that the Norwegian Maritime Authority, in collaboration with the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority, can follow up with supervision and to provide information and guidance.
Such an overview also provides better opportunities for organization and communication within the industry.
The obligation to notify applies to all shipping companies engaged in diving, although this is rarely done and the shipping company has other types of work as its main activity.
The shipping company is responsible for sending new notification of changes as well as within five years, if they still do diving.
