Working and living conditions for seafarers

One of the main tasks of the NMA is to supervise and promote good working and living conditions on board vessels.

Hours of work and rest Fatigue can have serious consequences for safety at sea and health of seafarers. Here we provide information about the regulations and advice on how the crew can get better sleep.
Right to complain Seafarers have the right to lodge complaints about the service on the ship and the employment in general.
Right to salary Employees are entitled to salary for the whole duration of the employment relationship.
Seaman's pension Pension Insurance for Seamen (PTS) is a statutory pension scheme for employees working at sea.
