Through education, information and other measures, the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) aim to prevent accidents in connection with the use of recreational craft, increase environmental awareness and safety for boating enthusiasts through promoting safe and respectful behavior at sea.

Use a lifejacket Users of recreational boats of less than 8 meters are required by law to use a lifejacket. Moreover, there shall be enough lifejackets for everyone on board all types of recreational craft. The Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) aims to make as many people as possible wear a lifejacket in open recreational craft of all sizes.
