The NMA has chosen to authorise the recognised classification societies (by way of a separate classification agreement) to perform RSO tasks on behalf of the authorities on board the Norwegian-flagged vessels.

This means that the recognised classification societies have been delegated the authority to approve the ships' ship security plans (SSP) and to issue International Ship Security Certificates (ISSC) on behalf of the NMA.

Ships with an ISSC issued by an RSO shall primarily contact this RSO for all questions related to this certificate or the ISPS Code.
