RSO - Recognised Security Organisations NMA has delegated certain security duties relating to ships to recognised security organisations.
ISSC Ships issued with an ISSC from an RSO/classification society shall act in accordance with the guidelines issued by the RSO/classification society concerned. Ships being issued with an ISSC from the Norwegian Maritime Authority shall follow the process described below.
Use of armed guards Norwegian legislation allows for the use of armed guards on board Norwegian-flagged ships.
Security level for Norwegian ships The information on this page includes instructions from the Norwegian Maritime Authority to ships flying the Norwegian flag with regards to raising the security level from 1 to 2 or 3, as well as recommendations related to the implementation of measures on board the ship in certain other areas.
