Manual application for endorsement

The Norwegian Maritime Authority recommends that you apply online. This ensures shorter processing time, and you may pay the application fee upon registration. By applying online, you may choose to have a Certificate of Receipt of Application (CRA) issued automatically.

For manual application, submit following:

Deck Officer-, Engineer Officer-, Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Certificate and Certificate of Officer on fishing vessel

  1. Completed application form
  2. Completed "Declaration of competence" form, or for Masters compleated course in Norwegian maritime legislation (NIS course)
  3. Photo of the seafarer
  4. Copy of national STCW- or STCW-F certificate
  5. If the CRA is issued by a Norwegian foreigne service mission, the CRA shal be submitted to the application
  6. For Masters with citizenship from outside the EEA, the application process will differ slightly. Please see guideline for exemption from the nationality requirement

Tankermann Advanced training certificate

  1. Completed application form
  2. Photo of the seafarer
  3. Copy of national Tankerman Advanced training Certificate (STCW) 

GMDSS Certificate

Electronic application shall be sent via Telenor Kystradio.

Certificate of Receipt of Application (CRA)

The CRA is only issued for one vessel with a validity of up to three months.

CRA can be issued by:

  • Norwegian foreigne service mission on this CRA-form when you submit manual application for endorsement.
  • After inquriy, NMA

Fee when applying for endorsement

Manual applications will be registered by NMA. Invoice will be sent to the address stated in the application.
