INCREASED VIGILANCE: The NMA will be keeping a close eye on the situation.

“Please note that the police must be notified first in the event of an emergency.
We need to work together to maintain a high level of safety by being more alert. Do not hesitate to contact the police,” says Alf Tore Sørheim, Head of Department of Operative Supervision at the NMA.

When an ongoing or critical security incident is detected, the police and any other emergency services must always be notified first. If the incident is related to a ship, it is important to use the established procedures for notifying the NMA as well.

Security incident means any suspicious act or circumstance threatening the security of a ship, port or port facility. It is better to be safe than sorry.
