In connection with our review of documents and information from the parties, the NMA has identified a design challenge in the ventilation arrangement, which could have led to the incident where sea/salt water leaked into the battery room.

The sister ship Bard has the same design challenge. Therefore, the NMA has issued an order to rectify before further operation.

We would like to emphasise that the cause of the fire remains to be determined. Safety comes first, however, which is why an order to rectify before further operation has been issued to the Bard.

Furthermore, the NMA will evaluate the need for measures and the relevance of such a construction on other vessels.

The shipowner has been informed of the upcoming order and expressed his acceptance and understanding.

Please bear in mind that the investigation has not yet been concluded. Our close collaboration will continue until we have identified the cause.
