Adjustment of HRA and MARSEC level in the Red Sea

  • Published: 02/06/2020

As there have been no incidents in the Red Sea for quite some time NMA has decided to adjust the MARSEC level from ISPS 2 to ISPS 1 in the Red Sea, according to the illustrations below.

However, NMA advice the shipping industry to stay alert and consider relevant measures from MARSEC level 2 in the declared ISPS 1 area of the Red Sea, such as proper preparations and planning, vigilance and a high degree of situational awareness.

The situation in the greater region, especially outside Yemen, in the Gulf of Aden and in the Strait of Hormuz, is still complex and the MARSEC level for these areas will remain unchanged.
