Maritime radio
The State assumed responsibility for the coast radio service from Telenor with effect from 1 January 2026. The Government has decided that the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) will take over the administration of the ship radio register and the licencing scheme, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre will assume responsibility for the radio operator service and the Norwegian Coastal Administration will take over the technical infrastructure.
