One of the NMA's main tasks is to supervise and promote good working and living conditions on Norwegian vessels and foreign vessels in Norwegian waters. Seafarers who work on Norwegian-registered vessels have rights like other employees in Norway. Foreign workers have different rights based on where the ship they work on is registered.
