Psychosocial working environment
Seafarers are entitled to a fully satisfactory working environment, cf. the Ship Safety and Security Act, § 1. Work and leisure on board must be arranged and organised so that the physical and mental health of those working on board is safeguarded. The psychosocial working environment on a ship encompasses a wide range of conditions on board, both during work and leisure time. It involves the social and interpersonal relationships, and cooperation between colleagues as well as between employees and leaders. It also concerns how the work is organized, planned, and carried out, as well as the living conditions on board.
