High-Speed Craft of 24 Metres in Length (L) or More

Passenger Ship Safety Certificate for high-speed craft (see section 20) is the vessel’s main certificate, granting it the right to operate within a designated operational area.

Inspection of High-Speed Craft of 24 Metres in Length (L) or More

The Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) conducts inspections prior to the issuance of a certificate.

The inspection consists of two parts:

  • Physical inspection onboard the vessel
  • Verification of vessel documentation

Issuance of the certificate is conditional upon compliance with applicable regulations.

Vessels holding a valid certificate that is due for renewal must request an inspection well in advance of the expiry date indicated on the certificate.

Reconstruction or Modification of High-Speed Craft of 24 Metres in Length (L) or More

The shipping company must notify the Norwegian Maritime Authority once an agreement has been made for the reconstruction or modification of a craft.
