Beware of email scams

The Norwegian Maritime Authority has recently been contacted by several companies who have received an email from what appears to be our “Port State Control” service.

The email is in English and contains vessel specific information, such as the vessel's IMO number. The sender is «psc@pscgovport.org». There is an attachment to the email with a form that the recipient is asked to complete and return.

If you receive such an email, please do not forward it or open any attachments. Our port State controls are almost always unannounced, and we never send emails containing links or documents to be opened and completed. If you receive an email from a person at the NMA, the address will be: XXXX@sdir.no.

- Please notify us if you receive a similar email or discover other information that could be of value to others or that you do not know how to handle, says Nils Haktor Bua, head of maritime digital security at the NMA.

You can use the notification form for digital incidents on our website.
