The Expert Advisory Board for recreational craft consists of:

  • NORBOAT
  • The Norwegian Hospitality Association
  • Norwegian Canoe Federation
  • Norwegian Sailing Federation
  • The Norwegian Sea Rescue Society

Public authorities with responsibility within or related to recreational boating:

  • Norwegian Maritime Authority
  • Norwegian Coastal Administration
  • National Police Directorate
  • Norwegian Environment Agency
  • Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning
  • Joint Rescue Coordination Centre
  • Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries (observer)

Purpose

The Expert Adviory Board shall contribute to promoting safety in the use of recreational craft and coordinate initiatives between the actors. The Board provides professional advice in matters relating to maritime safety and recreational craft. Emphasis will be placed on, among other things:

  • Safety of life, health, environment and vessels
  • Preventive work for users of recreational craft
  • Competence and certification

Action plan against recreational boating accidents 2019–2023

In January 2019, Minister of Trade and Industry Torbjørn Røe Isaksen took the initiative to put in place an action plan to reduce the number of serious accidents associated with the use of recreational craft.
