The primary purpose is to help make your vessel a safer workplace. Use of the tool may also assist in meeting regulatory requirements for documented risk assessments.
How do I log in?
To enhance security, the Norwegian Maritime Authority uses ID-porten for auhentication, in line with other digital services and "My Page" solutions.
By using the same e-mail address as in the previous version of the tool, you will be given the option to transfer your data to the new system. If you have not used the previous version, you can still create new risk assessments without any issues.
The previous version will remain available for a limited period. However, users are encouraged to start using the new tool as soon as possible.
How does the new risk assessment tool work?
Using the tool, you can carry out risk assessments of on-board work operations in a simple and intuitive step-by-step process.
The process is as follows:
- Add a vessel
- Add work tasks
- Identify potential hazards
- Add mitigating measures
- Generate safety safety instructions that can be printed and displayed on board
Many options are predefined, but you can also add customised entries tailored to your specific needs. The tool allows you to assess risk both before and after measures have been implemented.
You can edit previously completed risk assessments, ensuring that you always have up-to-date assessments available.
What are the requirements for conducting risk assessments?
Numerous incidents, near-misses and accidents occur at sea every week. Reports show that inadequate risk awareness is a recurring contributing factor.
There is a requirement for written risk assessments, even for the smallest vessels. This tool was originally developed to help smaller shipping companies carry out risk assessments in a systematic and effective manner.
Conducting risk assessments of on-board work operations is essential for establishing a shared understanding of the hazards involved. It is equally important to understand what actions should be taken to reduce both the likelihood of a hazardous event occurring and the severity of its consequences should it occur.
Legislation
Regulations on the working environment, health and safety of persons working on board ship section 2-2. (Also addresses in several other chapters of the same regulations.)
Who has access to my risk assessments?
Data is stored on a secure server, and only you have access to view and edit your assessment. You log on using ID-porten, which means that only you can access and manage your data.
More information about ID-porten is available here: Information and help for logging in to public services (norge.no)
