Development opportunities
The NMA aims to be recognised for great expertise, and our employees are our key assets.
In order for the NMA to be the preferred maritime administration, managers and employees must have correct and up-to-date expertise based on our social mission and the needs of the industry.

We have a dedicated programme for new employees that includes basic training, a buddy scheme and a professional supervisor.
We focus on developing our employees by making individual development plans and development initiatives.
Our scholarship scheme provides good opportunities for courses and further education.
The NMA also has a strategic competence plan that identifies focus areas every year.
Through this work, various competence initiatives are arranged throughout the year. All joint training initiatives are posted on our internal training website.

The NMA is an active driving force in international regulatory work at sea, and we implement international rules in Norwegian legislation. This includes regulations from the IMO, ILO, Paris MoU and regulations resulting from Norway's obligations under the EEA Agreement.
Our extensive international involvement provides opportunities for international experience.

We focus on good leadership and work continuously and purposefully to develop our leaders at all levels.
For several years, we have had our own manager and management programme based on both internal and external resources.
