Who issues the Certificate of Qualification?
When you complete a course to be on a speedboat (speedboat operations), you will be issued a "certificate of qualification for a speedboat" by the course center. It is NOT necessary to apply to the NMA for a certificate of qualification.
Renewal
After 2.5 years (30 months), the certificate of eligibility must be updated. The update will take place during the last six months before 2.5 years have passed. It can be updated with either an update course or training on board the ship under instruction from an instructor from an approved training location and an assessment by the company's assessor (the assessor must be approved for high-speed vessels).
After 5 years, the qualification certificate must be renewed with an update course. This must be completed during the last six months before the certificate of formal qualifications expires.
