Who needs safety courses and medical care?
Everyone who is part ofthe alarm instructions must have basic safety training.
As an alternative to basic safety courses, seafarers can also have safety training courses for seafarers on smaller ships
1. passenger ships of less than 300 gross tonnage in trade area 1
2 on cargo ships with a length (L) of less than 24 metres in a trade area of small coastal trade or less.
Who needs on Fishing Vessels?
On board fishing vessels, everyone must have safety training for fishermen.

Who Needs Medical Care
Seafarers who are to be responsible for medical treatment on board must have a certificate of proficiency for medical treatment
Validity
The following mugs are valid for 5 years.
- Advanced Security Training
- Basic security training
- Safety training for seafarers on smaller ships
- Medical treatment
Safety training for fisherman has a validity of 8 years.
Renewal
You can renew as long as you have a valid course certificate.
If the course has expired, one can renew if one can document 12 months of seagoing service in a position subject to a certificate in the last 5 years at the start date of the course.
Renewal of basic safety training for fishermen
Here you must renew before 8 years have passed, but not before 5 years have passed.
