Alternative qualification certificates for the boating exam

Reference is made to Section 2 (c) of the Regulations relating to requirements for minimum age and boating licences, etc. for drivers of recreational boats, which defines "qualification certificates" as follows;

• Boating licence issued on the basis of older regulations
• boating license issued by the Norwegian Boat Schools before the regulations came into force
• confirmation of passing the examination at the Norwegian Naval Trainee Schools
• Deck officer Class 5 Pleasure Craft
• Occupational Certificates for Deck Officers
• Military maritime certificates of equivalent degree.

The NMA may decide that theoretical competence other than that mentioned in the first sentence shall be regarded as a certificate of qualification, provided that the training is at the same level or higher than the boating exam.

Certificates of formal qualifications other than those explicitly mentioned in section 2 must be contacted in each individual case to have Norsk Test assessed.
