Initial registration of vessels in NOR, NIS, and the Shipbuilding Register

Entry into the NIS, NOR and Shipbuilding Registers (BYGG) is made following notification from the ship's owner to the Registrar. For ships subject to mandatory registration, 15 meters and more, notification must be sent within 30 days after delivery from the shipyard for a newly built ship, and, for other ships, within 30 days after the day the ship was considered to be Norwegian. Registration in BYGG is always voluntary.
