As of 1 January 2021, fees will not be refunded for rejected applications.

In the budget resolution for 2021 passed by the Norwegian Storting on 19 December 2020, it was decided that applicants who have their applications for maritime personnel certificates will no longer be entitled to a refund of any paid fees.

This is a change from previous practice, when applicants who had their applications rejected would receive a refund.

The change came into effect on 1 January 2021.

  1. Find the necessary documentation, e.g. diplomas, course certificates, documents verifying your seagoing service, etc.
  2. Scan the documents to your computer.
  3. Download, print, complete and scan the signature form.
  4. If you need to document navigational watchkeeping duties or engine-room watchkeeping duties, you must download, complete and scan the check list.
  5. Find your BankID or Altinn code letter.
  6. Find your credit card to pay the certification fee. Note: The application must be paid online; you will not receive an invoice.
  • Once the application is completed, you will be redirected to the payment page.
  • Applications will not be processed until the fee has been paid.
