Supervisions are normally carried out at the seafarer's doctor's office, but can also be carried out as video meetings or equivalent.

During supervisions, the Norwegian Maritime Authority will in particular ensure that you, as a seafarer's doctor, meet relevant requirements in regulations and circulars related to the task delegated from the Norwegian Maritime Authority.

There will be special focus on quality systems and implementation of the minimum requirements in circular RSV 12-2014 Quality system for seafarers' doctors, case processing when issuing medical certificates and declarations of unfitness and performing medical assessments.

Supervision findings

Definitions:

Nonconformities: An observed situation where objective evidence indicates a lack of fulfilment of specified requirements. Corrective action is required.

Remarks: Lack of fulfilment of requirements where system is in place, but nonconformity still is found. Corrective action is required.

Improval potensial: Important condistions that do not violate requirements but which have potesial for improvemet and need to be considered more closely by the business.

Supervision team

The supervisory team may consist of the responsible supervisory leader, auditor, professional expert, possibly an observer, and the seafarer's doctor and any other staff from the doctor's office.
