This week, a delegation from Transport Canada visited DNV-GL in Oslo, Skangass and Risavika port in Stavanger, Gasnor on Karmøy yesterday, and finally, the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) in Haugesund today.
Norway is a world leader in the use of LNG as fuel for ships and the NMA have gained considerable expertise in this field. No other country has more ships run on LNG than Norway. Consequently, professionals from around the world have contacted the NMA and Norwegian ship owners to seek advice about the use of LNG on ships.

The Canadian guests were given a presentation of Norwegian legislation for the use and bunkering of LNG in cargo and passenger ships, with emphasis on safety and risk assessment.
Canada is currently commencing on using LNG on ships. At present, three ships are under construction, the first of which is due for delivery later this year.

Representatives from Transport Canada (TC) and DNV-GL Canada and Norway visited the Norwegian Maritime Authority. From left Lasse Karlsen (Technical Director, NMA), Luc Tremblay (TC), Ian Campbell (TC), Gerd Wursig (DNV-GL, Hamburg), Donald Russell (Director General Marine Safety and Security, TC), Ole Vidar Nilsen (DNV-GL, Norway), Alberto Manfredini (DNV-GL, Canada) and Lars Alvestad (Head of Department, NMA).
