Nor-Shipping is a four-day trade fair in Lillestrøm. It was kicked off by the Ocean Leadership Conference, including opening speeches by the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Bjørnar Skjæran, and Director General of Navigation and Shipping, Knut Arild Hareide. Both stressed the importance of action and collaboration to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

"We need to build trust, stronger relations and more transparency. We must work closer together, and we need to collaborate for action," said Hareide said, who was applauded by the audience.

He referred to the Norwegian model as a significant driving force for the Norwegian maritime industry, which has helped Norway become world-leading, above all in the field of new technology and green shipping.

Hareide also also expressed his gratitude to his deceased predecessor, Olav Akselsen, for the splendid work he did for Norway as a flag State.

"Olav established the vision for the NMA, which is to become the preferred maritime authority. His commitment to building up a strong customer focus resulted in closer and better cooperation. My intention is to build on that legacy from Olav and further develop our collaboration with our partners," Hareide said.
