"Our main message is 'Collaborating for action'. The move towards sustainability and green solutions is going too slow, and there is a need for improved cooperation between the maritime industry, authorities and politicians. This will be our message both at the opening conference at Nor-Shipping and at our own events," says Director General of Navigation and Shipping, Knut Arild Hareide.

He is one of the speakers of the opening "Ocean Leadership Conference", and he will challenge the participants by encouraging cooperation on a larger scale to speed up the move towards greener solutions. This is also in line with the main theme for Nor-Shipping 2022, which is action!

Challenging and inspiring

«The Quality Flag Forum» is the NMA's event which will be held on Tuesday 5 April. This mini conference will challenge and inspire the industry for action towards sustainable development goals inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 17, "Partnerships for the goals".

The event will focus on solutions to climate change challenges, such as "Green shipping and decarbonisation". Challenges faced by the industry, and the very valid issue of maritime cyber security , will also be discussed.

In addition, one session will be dedicated to the sustainable development goal on gender equality and the maritime industry's access to, and development of, necessary expertise. This session will be led by WISTA Norway under the title "Waves of Change".

Making Norway known as a flag State

"We are very proud of this event, which will gather all partners of the unique Norwegian maritime cluster. Not only the Director General of Navigation and Shipping, but also competent people from the Norwegian Ship Owners' Association, the Norwegian National Security Association and WISTA Norway will speak at the conference. You don't want to miss this mini conference at this year's Nor-Shipping. There are only a few tickets left," says Caroline Whittle, who is project manager for the Nor-Shipping participation and Head of Marketing at the Norwegian Maritime Authority

  • Green Shipping Programme
  • Wista Norway
  • Nor-Shipping
  • Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries
  • Ministry of Climate and Environment
