  • Knut Arild Hareide appointed new Director General of Shipping and Navigation

    Knut Arild Hareide was today appointed by the King in the Council of State as Director General of Shipping and Navigation for the Norwegian Maritime Authority for a period of six years. Hareide will take up the role on 1 January 2022.

    The Norwegian Government has decided that seafarers arriving in Norway to work on ships will be exempted from the quarantine hotel requirement when arriving from outside the EEA/Schengen area or the UK.   • IHM and control of ships on 31.12.2020 and after

    All ships 500GT or higher which not operates exclusively in Norwegian waters, must have Inventory Certificate (IC) or Ready for Recycling Certificate (RfRC) in place no later than 31.12.2020. The EU regulation on ship recycling, does not provide for the possibility of granting exemptions or extensions of deadlines. The deadline is 31.12.2020 to have IC on board.
