Israel, the Gaza Strip and Gulf of Aqaba
The NMA has decided to lower the ISPS-level.
The current threat towards merchant vessels in the eastern part of the Mediterranean is assessed to be low. This reflects the fact that there have been very few incidents of armed forces targeting commercial vessels in the area and that the warring parties have shown no intentions of attacking shipping in the area. To reflect the current threat level in the area, the NMA has decided to lower the ISPS-level from 3 to 1.
The entire Gulf of Aqaba will continue to have a MARSEC/ISPS level 2.
Ships going into the areas must assess the risks of collateral damage and take necessary precautions.
Shipping companies and captains are urged to monitor the situation through reliable sources.
Furthermore, risk of GNSS and AIS disruptions in the regions is assessed as high.
