North Sea Cup
In the traditional annual football tournament, seafarers gather on the ferry from Bergen via Stavanger heading towards the excellent sports facility in Hirtshals. During the breaks between matches, participants can also compete in athletics events.
In addition to having a goal to train for, the social community across vessels and shipping companies is equally important to many, both during the crossings and throughout the tournament day.
Upon arrival in Hirtshals in the morning, participants are bused to the venue, and the matches start immediately on the eight fields. Breakfast is served in the sports hall. After the final, a banquet with a buffet and award ceremony takes place.
In addition to much honor and recognition, beautiful trophies and medals in various categories are awarded to all players on the top three teams. Trophies are also presented to the best goalkeeper and standout players, as well as the special "Sportsmanship Trophy." Medals are also awarded in the athletics events to the top three in shot put, long jump, and sprint.
You don’t need to be super fit or a football player to participate. You can also join as a supporter for your team. The best, most creative, and lively supporter group is also awarded.
Ahead of the tournament, we will post information about the tournament date and registration on social media and in the sports portal.
Registration is on a "first come, first served" basis, with waiting lists if there are more registered teams than available spots.
